Let’s dive in.
I don’t hide the fact that I am a deeply spiritual person. Every time someone tells me, ”Well, you might think this is a bit weird // out there // woo-woo.” I reply with, “Ooh … tell me more!!
Quincilia Siah, Trained Professional Organizer and founder of SOS My Space and and Reiki Level 2 Practitioner wrote in a recent blog post,
“When we surround ourselves with clutter, the energy in our space has no room to flow and it becomes stagnant. Stuck energy needs to be cleared; it is what makes us feel like the weight of the world is on our shoulders.
This stuck energy is what makes us feel like we have a wet blanket sitting heavily on our bodies. It’s extremely uncomfortable, makes us irritable and anxious and it levates our stress!”
I couldn’t agree more with Quincilia 💫. Check her out on the Marc & Mandy show for more tips on creating functional spaces.
Clear the clutter in your mental and physical space and transform your life. But where the heck do you start?
Start small to go big 👊
Physical space: Pick a single drawer to organize and let that small effort be enough to count as winning.
Mental space: Do you want a magical transformation in your life? Commit to waking up 10 minutes earlier to practice a sacred morning ritual that works for you. A great way to start is with breath work and a 5 minute gratitude practice. This energy produces a radiance within and around you, attracting more of the same. Yes, it really is that easy. I’ve seen it dozens of times in my clients.
As neuro scientist Dr. Joe Dispenza says, “Where focus goes, energy flows.”
Thankfulness is the highest vibrational energy you can feel. Imagine yourself living in the happiest moment of your life. Now say a quick thank you for that experience and use your five senses to fully acknowledge the impact of that appreciation. Notice the shift in your physiology, your face, your breathing and your thought pattern.
Be strategic when it comes to clutter
Physical space: Start in high traffic zones in your life. As a mom, having an organized Tupperware drawer is essential. We are in and out of it multiple times a day and having to root around for a lid that may not even exist ignites a spark of mama-bear in me. This is a really great place to start if you pack a lunch for work for yourself or a family, or even better, have kids in training to do it themselves. #setupforsuccess
Think, mud room, fridge, desk top, file cabinet, master closet, linen closet.
Bloom & grow tip: Donate what you no longer need to a church group for teen moms or the old towels and sheets to the local animal shelter.
Virtual space: Is your home screen full of distracting apps? Move them to another screen, out of sight out of mind. This eliminates temptation while increasing focused intention and decreasing device distraction.
Is your phone filled with icons for apps you downloaded but don’t use? Delete them.
Photos: When was the last time you deleted images? A simple habit of spending a few minutes a day adds up to a lot of space. You could fit this in while you wait for your coffee or in the grocery line-up, any place you have some idle time in a busy environment. Do a massive purge before a back-up and avoid adding the digital clutter 🙈 to your long-term storage.
Innovation and creativity thrive in peace and calm.
This is a small taste of what you can do to create more space, energy and time in your life. The really cool thing about de-cluttering is that it creates space for you to make changes in your life. The space feels so amazing that you will start working on projects that previously felt like a burden without it feeling like an effort.
This is a monumental win.
