A simple tip to create hours of extra time each week? Sounds to good to be true doesn’t it.
As I wrote about last week, time is more than money these days, it is the most valueable commodity you have. This is why I decided to write a few posts to rekindle your creativity and productivity at work.
I want you to make an investment in yourself, your success both in life and at work. Organizing can seem about as exciting as doing your taxes. Once you get started you will love how great it feels. The stuff you use and how you use it, is a pretty big part of your life.
Getting a good file system for work, hobbies, family management, etc, can clear up hours of free time each week. If this sounds like an exaggeration to you, think again.
The time you spend searching through vaguely named file folders, looking for your smart phone, sifting through mountains of loose papers or trying to locate a classic shot for throw back Thursday add up faster than you might think. And don’t forget about the time you spend thinking about not having efficiencies in place to organize your life. Big truths often come as simple tips .
Tip #2 – Create a filing system that is functional, fast and fun!
Yes, I actually said fun.
When things work efficiently it feels so good that sorting your photos, emails and projects can actually feel like a reward. The process not only brings you peace of mind that you KNOW where things are, but it also gives your hours of time back in your days to do the things you love.
We all have different styles and systems that work for us, so make sure you find the system that is right for you. Your best friend may be the most organized person you know, but if you are visual and she is sensory, her systems will not foster your efforts to reinvent your organization.
How to pick a system? Like all truth, you’ll know it when you see it. Trust that gut reaction that screams YES when you see that crisp and colourful rainbow hanging file folder system in an open drawer just as much as that grimace that spreads across your face when you see another DIY posting. Simple tips and systems need to work for you and you alone.
Here are a few links I found that can lead you down the garden path to a file system that works for you!
